Brief History
In 1947, at the age of 26, Joseph F. Szabo founded the Szabo Construction Company in Des Plaines, Illinois. His vision, work ethic and commitment to high quality craftsmanship quickly established Szabo Construction as a leading mason contractor in the Chicagoland area.
Projects ranging from homes, schools and churches in Elk Grove Village, Glenview and other suburbs marked the early years. By the 1970's, manufacturing buildings such as Cotter and Company/True Value Hardware in Chicago, commercial buildings from Orland Park to Lake Zurich and schools in Arlington Heights and Schaumburg had become the company's mainstay.
In the early 1980's, sons Joe and Jim became involved in the family business. Under their leadership, and with their sister Joan's administrative assistance, Szabo Construction's quality work continues in a wide variety of projects throughout Chicago and suburbs to this day.
